Update ... March 10, 2013 .... This fully restored 1969 Bonneville restoration has been sold to an individual from Southern California for $17,000.
This motorcycle was finished to 100 percent factory specifications by Leroy Turner of El Paso, Texas. Those who regularly read this website or who have seen Leroy’s exquisite restorations at the Midamerica Motorcycle Auctions in Las Vegas, know that Leroy has become one of the premier British motorcycle restorers in the country.
This restoration is perfect in every way. It started as a low mileage, matching number donor bike that we located and purchased in Missouri earlier this year. It came to us as a complete bike in every way with original, rare wind tone horns and all of its factory sheet metal still displaying its mid-1969 paint scheme of Olympic Flame over silver with scallops.
The restoration paint color was matched to the original color found under the tank. All paintwork was done by Ed Carlson of Tucson, Arizona.
Leroy used every original part possible including rechromed headlight bucket, wheel rims, mufflers, levers and grab handle.
The seat was restored to the factory specs from an original 1969 pan which still retained its grab handle screw holes, barbed cover holders and trim clips.
Although the donor engine had only 12,000 miles on the odometer, to make this bike as close to new as possible, Leroy installed an original NOS standard bore jug and standard bore Hepolite pistons.
Leroy started the engine on a test tank and test exhausts and performed a short test ride to make certain everything was performing as expected. After that, he reinstalled the original tank with no fuel as well as the unused exhausts and mufflers.
So this bike is immediately ready to be put on display or ridden ... your choice.
This motorcycle has a clear Washington state title.
